A Morning Stroll

Directed by: Grant Orchard, UK, 7 minutes, Rating: MT

Nominated this year for Best Animated Short at the Academy Awards, this inventive film transposes the same bizarre-but-true story of a chicken walking down the sidewalk onto three very different periods in history.  Each version of the anecdote features a different aesthetic style to match the time period, and delivers a witty commentary on society’s diminishing curiosity about the world around them. 

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Directed by: Tom Shadyac, USA, 86 minutes, Rating: PG-13

Bring your canine companion down to BB&T Ballpark for a night to watch the film that made Jim Carrey a household name. Filled with ridiculous stunts that only Carrey could pull off, this film follows the pet detective, Ace Ventura, as he searches for the missing dolphin mascot of an NFL football team. Admission is FREE, suggested donation of a can of pet food and/or $2 for the Forsyth Humane Society.

Beep Beep (Bip Bip)

Directed by: Philippe Gregoire, Canada, 5 minutes, Rating: MT

A hapless man in a parked vehicle becomes a prisoner of his girlfriend’s drowsiness, as she can’t be woken to disable the penetrating alarm beeping on her wristwatch.  A hilarious, improvised dance party behind the steering wheel becomes his only escape.

Dear God (Cher Dieu)

Directed by: Caroline Mailloux, Canada, 21 minutes, Rating: MT

In the religious town of St. Fidele, many of the townspeople write their prayers to God via postcards.  However, most of those postcards simply end up in the mail room where Vital, the cynical postman, can’t help but read them.  When he discovers one that is a cry for help, this atheist has to draw upon his remaining Catholic knowledge in order to send her signs that God is, in fact, watching.

Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn

Directed by: Sam Raimi, USA, 84 minutes, Rating: R

The second film in Sam Raimi’s legendary horror comedy trilogy once again stars Bruce Campbell as the iconic, quick-witted demon slayer Ash Williams. The lone survivor of an onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits, Ash holds up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack.

God Bless America

Directed by: Bobcat Goldthwait, USA, 104 minutes, Rating: R

When a terminally ill man in his 40s meets a 16-year-old firebrand, the two launch into a Bonnie and Clyde-esque killing spree of reality TV stars, talk show hosts and anyone else corrupting American culture in this absurdly comic farce from director and RiverRun alum Bobcat Goldthwait (World’s Greatest Dad).

Mustache Mayhem

Directed by: Cheryl Cabrera, USA, 8 minutes, Rating: G

Two best friends, Turt and Gator, want nothing more than to be real cowboys, which to them means having awesome mustaches.  But, when they try to grow them, they get way more than they bargained for.

One Night Stand

Queens of Country

Directed by: Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke, USA, 93 minutes, Rating: MT

Jolene (Lizzy Caplan) lives in a fantasy world of bygone country songs. When she discovers a lost iPod with her boyfriend (Ron Livingston), she becomes convinced that the owner is her soulmate and is thrust into a sexy, heartwarming and hilarious adventure while searching for the iPod’s true owner.  Also starring Matt Walsh, Joe Lo Truglio and Maynard James Keenan.  Directors Chris Pomerenke & Ryan Page, Producer Topper McDaniel and star Ron Livingston to be in attendance for screening!

Sawdust City

Directed by: David Nordstrom, USA, 97 minutes, Rating: MT

An estranged pair of brothers reunite for a frostbitten Wisconsin Thanksgiving, and the family bonds are quickly re-formed as the daylong search for their alcoholic father leads to a whirlwind tour of the local dives full of bittersweet revelry and revelation.
